Ella Fitzgerald, Chick Webb Signed Picture & Newspaper

Ella Fitzgerald got her start fronting Chick Webb’s band in the 1930s, and here are two collectibles from that time period: an 8×10-inch glossy taken at the Apollo Theatre signed by both Chick and Ella; and a summer 1939 Harlem Jazz newsprint magazine announcing the untimely death of Webb, with plenty of Ella references and a great, early plug for a young Billie Holiday. Enthusiastically discussed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com).
