It was Girls’ Night Out times four in August of 1966 when Janis Joplin, Grace Slick and original Jefferson Airplane singer Signe Anderson took their turns at the mic at the Loser’s South club in San Jose, CA. The Airplane, just about to release their first LP, headlined all four nights. Big Brother & The Holding Company with Joplin opened three of the shows, and on the last night, The Great Society with Slick was the opening act. For two of the nights, admission was only $1.50. Whew! Throw in the fact that this is one of the scarcer concert posters designed by famous Bay Area poster artists Mouse & Kelley, and you have quite a fun item. Enthusiastically discussed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com).
