PART TWO: Vintage R&B concert posters don’t come much more electrifying than this: large, gorgeous, colorful, early, several rock ‘n roll hall-of-famers, lots of hit song titles, Motown roots, great condition… this thing has it all. Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson are the stars, and to find them together on a ’50s concert poster is amazing. Toss in R&R HOF’ers Gladys Knight & The Pips (don’t blink or you’ll miss them) and Hank Ballard, and feature Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr.’s very first single release, and you have a poster dripping with history as well as colors. Enthusiastically discussed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com).
