The Velvet Underground and Nico were the musical guests at this series of shows at The Trip nightclub on Sunset Strip in 1966, but it was their manager, Andy Warhol, who was the headliner, with his outrageous, multi-media Exploding Plastic Inevitable Show. Pop artist Roy Lichtenstein’s great Newsweek magazine cover is the centerpiece of this outrageously cool cardboard window card that advertised two weeks’ worth of shows in the spring of ’66, which were cut short by authorities for causing too much trouble.
