Grateful Dead Concert Poster w/ Oxford Circle at Avalon Ballroom

The term “iconic image” is thrown around too often, but that sobriquet was practically invented for this ultra-famous Grateful Dead concert poster from 1966. Nicknamed “skull & roses” or “skeleton & roses,” this masterwork was created by poster artists Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley. Can you imagine having attended the Avalon Ballroom one of these nights and being able to tell your friends about it to this day! (Correction: I accidentally say at one point “pulled by Graham” when I should have said “pulled by Helms.”) Enthusiastically discussed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com).
