Never mind its black & white coloring, this Grateful Dead and Quicksilver Messenger Service concert poster is one of the most enduring and popular in the Dead’s entire canon. This poster marks the first time that a skull or skeleton was used in the advertising of a Dead concert, although this particular image — by Mexican artist Posada, and selected by Family Dog promoter Chet Helms — was never used again. Wes Wilson did the rest of the artwork, leaving a B&W final poster that just begged for the lettering to be colored in, so many fans did just that back in the Sixties.
