Today’s presentation is a huge, gorgeous 1965 Motortown Revue concert poster featuring Marvin Gaye, Martha & the Vandellas, Junior Walker and the All-Stars, The Contours, The Four Tops and singer Brenda Holloway.
This vintage cardboard R&B window card was printed by Globe Poster (of Baltimore, MD) for the purpose of selling tickets – and to be discarded the next day!
Motortown Review concert posters like this were turned out for tours in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965. However, a Motortown Revue window card from 1962 has never been seen.
Any Marvin Gaye concert poster from the Sixties tends to be collectible, especially one made by Globe with these bright Day-Glo colors.
And any Martha and the Vandellas concert poster which has “Dancing in the Street” on it, like this one does, obviously has appeal to collectors.
This boxing-style broadside is happily discussed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com, and I will pay very, very well for this or concert posters similar to it (phone 805-540-0020, email firstname.lastname@example.org).
