An original Doors concert poster from the Boston Arena in Boston, MA on April 10, 1970.
Most Doors concert posters are from the ’60s and were psychedelic in nature, but this cardboard placard depicts Jim Morrison, Robbie Krieger, Ray Manzarek and John Densmore in a straight-ahead, standard B&W design.
It’s easy to see that this Doors telephone-pole poster has creases and general wear and tear, probably due to the elements of being posted outside. Can you imagine if it had been printed on flimsy paper!
This 14×22-inch Doors window card was used for a gig in the L.A. band’s last year of touring, behind their brand new Morrison Hotel album.
The entire wording found on this Doors window herald:
“(Top white area): Friday, April 10 at Boston Arena – (then into the black area): Two Shows 7 and 10 P.M. – The Doors and introducing Gordon Lowe
(In the smallest print): Presented by Fred Samango. All seats reserved. (Into the lower white area now): Tickets: $3.50 – 4.50 – 5.50 – 6.50. On sale at Tyson’s • HUB • Out-of-town Ticket Agencies
Mail Orders To Boston Arena Box Office, 238 St. Botolph Street, Boston (MA of course), Phone: CO 7-3810. (And then finally, the last line): Please enclose stamped, self-addressed envelope.”
As stated, most 1967-70 Doors concert posters were psychedelic, very colorful, sometimes flowery and printed on paper, and frequently didn’t have a picture of the group. So this Doors window card is an interesting departure in that it’s printed on durable, thick cardboard.
This Doors concert billboard is enthusiastically put on display by collector Pete Howard (email pete@postercentral.com or phone 805-540-0020). Pete pays the very best prices! for this poster or any old vintage Doors concert posters like this one – or any ’60s stuff.
