Jefferson Airplane Grateful Dead Window Card – Toronto 1967

A wonderful psychedelic timepiece from the Summer of Love featuring the Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead for a full week’s worth of shows in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in the summer of 1967. Known as BG-74 to poster collectors, this Bill Graham concert poster is in shorter supply than most because most of them were allegedly confiscated by Canadian customs officials, or so legend has it. Enthusiastically discussed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com). Hell’s Angels Present Big Brother, Janis Joplin Poster 1966 San Francisco

The poster doesn’t name Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead or chief Prankster Ken Kesey, but all three of those legends appeared at this San Francisco concert in the fall of 1966. Throw in the Hell’s Angels and you’ve got quite a potent brew for a wild & crazy show! Poster designed by Angels artist Gut, a friend of the Dead’s. Acid Test Flyer Advertising Handout 1966 Grateful Dead at S.F. State

An original advertising handbill from S.F. State College for the last legendary “Acid Test” event before LSD was made illegal in California (in October 1966). Nicknamed “Whatever It Is” or “The X Handbill,” this charismatic little piece is not great artistically, but it represents oodles of history — both the Grateful Dead and head Merry Prankster Ken Kesey were there. Jethro Tull Concert Poster 1969 Tour / Boston Tea Party

A cool and collectible vintage Jethro Tull concert poster from The Boston Tea Party nightclub in, of course, Boston, MA. At the time of this 1969 gig, Tull had released just two albums, This Was and Stand Up. Ella Fitzgerald, Chick Webb Signed Photo & Harlem Jazz Newspaper

Ella Fitzgerald got her start fronting Chick Webb’s band in the 1930s, and here are two collectibles from that time period: an 8×10-inch glossy taken at the Apollo Theatre signed by both Chick and Ella; and a summer 1939 Harlem Jazz newsprint magazine announcing the untimely death of Webb, with plenty of Ella references and a great, early plug for a young Billie Holiday.
