Jimi Hendrix, Moby Grape Concert Poster – Earl Warren Showgrounds, 1967

A very psychedelic, vibrating-colors Jimi Hendrix concert poster from Santa Barbara, CA just as the guitar god’s career was leaving the launching pad. This show was on August 19, 1967, the same week that Hendrix first charted a single on Billboard magazine’s charts, “Purple Haze,” and likewise the same time his first LP, Are You Experienced?, also hit the Billboard charts. How cool is that? Enthusiastically discussed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com). Janis Joplin Window Card 1969 Canterbury House, Ann Arbor

A beautiful Midwestern psychedelic concert poster for Janis Joplin appearing in Ann Arbor, MI on March 15, 1969. Janis had left Big Brother & The Holding Company the year before, and was touring with her own band along with the James Cotton Blues Band. A great, unique design by poster artist Allan Reid, who was then a student at the University of Michigan. Grateful Dead Concert Poster 1960s Bill Graham Charity Show for SNCC

A Bill Graham / Grateful Dead concert poster from 1966 that stands outside of Graham’s typical number series of posters for shows at the Fillmore. Known as the “snick” benefit, this eight-hour show featured the Dead plus The James Cotton Chicago Blues Band, Quicksilver Messenger Service, future Black Panther Stokely Carmichael and assorted speakers and MCs. SNCC stood for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Enthusiastically discussed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com). Elvis Presley Concert Poster 1970s Casino Show Placard – 3 AM Mother’s Day!

A previously unknown Mother’s Day 1973 Elvis concert poster for a 3 AM benefit show that sold out and raised money for a local South Lake Tahoe hospital. This was an inside-the-venue Sahara Tahoe concert poster which actually mentions his mother, Gladys Presley, twice on the poster itself, which is certainly unprecedented. Not the prettiest poster with McDonald’s colors and no photo of The King, but rare as a hen’s tooth and representing a show that was released on CD and got rave reviews. Enthusiastically discussed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com). If you’re into rare Elvis concert posters, be sure to check out additional images from the ’50s shown on this page located here on my web site: http://www.postercentral.com/elvispresley.htm

Cream Concert Poster 1967 Grande Ballroom, Detroit

Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker are prominently pictured on this nice sixties psychedelic concert poster out of Detroit, MI. Nicknamed “Creamsicle” to distinguish it from the other Cream / Grande Ballroom / Gary Grimshaw concert poster (from 1968), this is part of a very famous series of posters for concerts produced by Russ Gibb in the motor city. In addition, this beautiful, original mint-condition copy has been artfully signed by Grimshaw.
