Beatles Concert Poster 1966 Tour – S.F.’s Candlestick Park

An original, genuine concert poster for the last-ever Beatles concert held on Monday, August 29, 1966 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California.

The original Candlestick Park poster was printed by West Coast Lithograph Co. on thick cardboard. Be forewarned, however, that bootlegs and reproductions from innumerable sources abound. How can you tell the difference between a real Beatles Candlestick Park poster as opposed to a knock-off? A genuine specimen vs. a worthless phony? An original one instead of the bootleg found all the time at swap meets?  An authentic one and not a well-done reproduction? Here I explain how.

This poster is extra collectible because The Beatles played their last regular concert ever, one to a paying audience, on this date – August 29, 1966.

This Beatles Candlestick Park window card was designed by poster artist Wes Wilson, the same year he had drawn up many concert posters for promoters Bill Graham and Chet Helms in S.F.

Here is the exact wording as it reads on this poster: Here Come The Beatles, Candlestick Park, Monday, August 29, 8 PM. (Down below): The Cyrkle, The Ronettes, The Remains plus two other acts to be determined. (P.S. Can you name them?) San Francisco …… (And then in tiny white print between Paul and George): Tickets Available By Mail. Ticket Prices: $5.00 – 6.00 – 7.00 – including all handling charges. Enclose stamped, self-addressed envelope. Address Ticket Orders To: (new paragraph): KYA, #1 Nob Hill Circle, San Francisco, California 94108. (Final line): Make All Checks and Money Orders Payable to KYA.

Radio station KYA in the Bay Area presented the Beatles at Candlestick Park, so those call letters are mentioned several times on the poster – and also on the concert ticket in big letters.

I once had this poster but it had to go in a trade, so I will pay the very best price for another one, not to mention ANY 1960s vintage Beatles poster used to sell tickets before the event. Bob Dylan Window Card 1964 Buffalo, New York

An original Bob Dylan concert poster from November 1, 1964 at Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo, New York.

Kleinhans Music Hall drew up this window card strictly to sell tickets for its November 1, 1964 presentation of Bob Dylan’s show… purely for advertising, no other reason.

This Dylan concert billboard, or broadside as they used to say, advertises a folk-music concert only… Dylan had not gone electric yet.

The complete and exact wording on this poster is as follows: Another B.J.F. Folk Attraction – Bob Dylan, Columbia Recording Artist. Sunday November 1st. – 8:00 PM. Kleinhans Music Hall. All Seats Reserved $4.00-$3.25-$2.50-$1.75. Denton, Cottier & Daniels, 32 Court Street; Sample Store, 1631 Hertel Avenue; University of Buffalo, Norton Hall Ticket Booth; and Brundo’s Music Center, Niagara Falls, N.Y.

All in all, a very handsome Bob Dylan boxing-style cardboard concert poster with killer graphics and detailed ticket information, both strong pluses.

I will pay the best price, period, for an original copy of this poster – literally, thousands of dollars! – because I don’t have one in my collection and I’ve been a fan and collector of Dylan since the late ’60s. The same applies for any collectible concert memorabilia of Dylan from the sixties, including all posters. I’m Pete Howard and can be reached at 805-540-0020 or pete@postercentral.com.
