A classic San Francisco psychedelic concert poster from the summer of 1966, featuring the Jefferson Airplane without Grace Slick and the Great Society with Grace Slick. Known as FD-17, this Avalon Ballroom Family Dog concert poster was designed by the legendary team of Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley. Big Brother & Holding Company Concert Poster w/ Janis Joplin 1966

One of the prettiest of all the San Francisco ’60s psychedelic concert posters is “the girl with the green hair.” It was designed to sell tickets for a pair of October 1966 concerts featuring Big Brother & The Holding Company with Janis Joplin, and the Jim Kweskin Jug Band with Geoff & Maria Muldaur (later of “Midnight at the Oasis” fame). A rare March 1966 Los Angeles Acid Test psychedelic concert poster designed by longtime Grateful Dead associate Owsley Stanley, affectionately known as “Bear.” The Dead played this show, along with folks like Tiny Tim and improv pioneer Del Close. This window card is short on color but long on history, design and charisma. Sorry this video is 10 minutes long, but I needed it to show off three original, vintage Glenn Miller window cards from his heyday: 1938, 1939 and 1940, each with its own unique style. Original Glenn Miller concert posters are tough to find because he toured nationally only from 1937-1942, before joining the Army in ’43 and sadly perishing in ’44. Velvet Underground Nico Andy Warhol Concert Poster 1966 BG-8

One of the earliest posters in Bill Graham’s coveted numbered concert poster series, this May 1966 Velvet Underground (with Lou Reed) concert poster is known to collectors as BG-8. It had to be one of the weirdest weekends in the history of the Fillmore, given the type of music that Warhol’s troupe and Zappa’s band were making. Here is a first printing of the poster in mint condition, signed by the poster artist, Wes Wilson.
