Elvis Presley Concert Poster 1950s – Fox Theater, Detroit, Mich.

An original, authentic Elvis Presley concert poster for his three shows on May 25, 1956 at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, MI.

This vintage 1956 Elvis Presley window card was printed up for the sole purpose of selling tickets for the shows, and most of them were tossed out the next day.

Elvis is billed across the top of the poster as “The Nation’s New Singing Sensation,” and all tickets were priced at only $1.50 each!

Original ’50s Elvis Presley boxing-style cardboard concert posters are scarce today due to most of them being discarded over half-a-century ago.

In fact, ANY 1950s rock & roll concert posters are collectors’ items, especially when talking about the cardboard window-card ones.

This original Elvis Presley broadside (as they used to call them) measures roughly 14 by 22 inches, and it’s been bootlegged innumerable times since then.

I, serious collector Pete Howard, will pay top dollar for this poster – as in, thousands of dollars – because I don’t own the one I’m showing you here… it was on loan from a prominent West Coast poster collection, for the purposes of this video. (I can be reached at phone 805-540-0020 or email pete@postercentral.com).

If you enjoy these Elvis concert posters from his first decade like I do, be sure to check out additional images from the 1950s shown on this page located here on my web site: http://www.postercentral.com/elvispresley.htm

Motown Revue Concert Poster 1960s Marvin Gaye Martha & Vandellas

Today’s presentation is a huge, gorgeous 1965 Motortown Revue concert poster featuring Marvin Gaye, Martha & the Vandellas, Junior Walker and the All-Stars, The Contours, The Four Tops and singer Brenda Holloway.

This vintage cardboard R&B window card was printed by Globe Poster (of Baltimore, MD) for the purpose of  selling tickets – and to be discarded the next day!

Motortown Review concert posters like this were turned out for tours in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965.  However, a Motortown Revue window card from 1962 has never been seen.

Any Marvin Gaye concert poster from the Sixties tends to be collectible, especially one made by Globe with these bright Day-Glo colors.

And any Martha and the Vandellas concert poster which has “Dancing in the Street” on it, like this one does, obviously has appeal to collectors.

This boxing-style broadside is happily discussed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com, and I will pay very, very well for this or concert posters similar to it (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com).

And if this one got your attention, be sure to see more over on this page of my web site: http://www.postercentral.com/rhythmnblues.htm

Led Zeppelin Concert Poster with The Who Headlining, 1969

This is an authentic concert poster for Led Zeppelin opening for The Who in Columbia, MD (outside Baltimore) on May 25, 1969.

This was the one & only instance when Led Zeppelin and The Who shared a stage on the same day, as opposed to multi-day rock festivals.

The Who and Led Zeppelin concert at the Merriweather Post Pavilion has achieved mythic status as a fantasy concert that occurred only once-in-a-lifetime.

This Led Zeppelin and The Who paper window card is a beautiful blend of pastel yellow, pink and green colors.  The poster artist went uncredited and his/her name has been lost to history.

Displayed and explained by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (telephone 805-540-0020, email address pete@postercentral.com).

Beach Boys 1963 Concert Poster – Sacramento Memorial Auditorium

A fantastic concert poster advertising The Beach Boys’ show at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, CA on September 14, 1963.

This is a totally original concert poster for The Beach Boys in Sacramento, printed before the show, which was promoted by Fred Vail.

It’s definitely a nice item of rare, vintage Beach Boys 1960s concert memorabilia.

This bright green Beach Boys window card was printed strictly for advertising to sell tickets, and therefore in quite limited quantities.

Colby Poster Printing Co. of Los Angeles printed up this cardboard concert poster.

Happily displayed by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com).

Rolling Stones Concert Poster 1966 Window Card – Lynn, Mass.

Here’s an original concert poster for The Rolling Stones at the Manning Bowl in Lynn, Mass. on Friday, June 24, 1966.

It’s fairly small for a poster, but still a nice piece of Rolling Stones ’60s concert memorabilia.

The poster states that this was The Rolling Stones’ first U.S. appearance of 1966 – which it was – and their only New England concert on this tour – which it wasn’t.

No “tour blank” concert posters were used for The Rolling Stones’ 5th American tour in 1966, so you see lots of “one-off” oddball posters like this one – but it’s all good!

The concert poster for The Rolling Stones at War Memorial Auditorium in Syracuse, NY on July 6, 1966 has the exact same layout – and there are others, too.

Explained by collector Pete Howard of PosterCentral.com (phone 805-540-0020, email pete@postercentral.com).
